GRATITUDES:
1. BREAKFAST!!!
2. Dappled morning sun streaming into my room
3. Good nurses

Wow. That patterned cinderblock, even though it’s extremely dated, makes for a wonderful play of light in my little room. The largest window faces east and the sun is just pouring in. It would really be a bit too much without the screen but boy, it’s nice to just curl up in a dappled sunbeam. Yes. I am a cat.😻 My biggest gripe is that it blocks much of the view to the east but the smaller window, which faces south, offers an unimpeded view of the hospital’s helipad and the downtown skyline. All in all, not a bad little roost for a few days!

I was a bit concerned that I wouldn’t get any breakfast this morning because of my late arrival last night. (Breakfast orders are usually taken the afternoon before.) Lo and behold, a tray arrived a bit before 8am, filled with eggs, bacon, potatoes, oatmeal, English muffin, orange juice, apple sauce and coffee. I obliterated everything except the muffin (hockey puck) and coffee (silty swill). I even ate the apple sauce and scarfed down the oatmeal plain, no honey, no cinnamon, no nuffink. Hey, I was hungry. I hadn’t had any dinner the night before and I was about ready to start gnawing on my blanket. I’ve since made up for the unintentional fast by wolfing down a generous portion of chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy for lunch and my dinner of baked pasta should be here within the next hour. Wait, hold on… dinner’s here now!😄
