1 May – fourth break

The countdown to returning to the hospital is starting. There are still some things I need to wash and other items to gather up to take along. I want to try to take some snacks with me this time, things like peanuts and crackers that the hospital unit doesn’t usually provide. Peanuts especially are a perfect snack – they’re high in protein and fat and my body could still use some shoring up, although I weighed myself this morning and I’m up to 140. Time to begin backing away from eating everything that isn’t nailed down! My goal is to weigh no more than 145 and to be fit again. That’s going to take some work. I haven’t done any sort of serious strength training since before the girls were born and it definitely shows, especially in my arms. Flubber. Eeew. A few months of dedicated exercise and sensible eating should take care of that. Discipline. Yeah, right!🤣🤣🤣

Blurgh… So much laundry to fold, so little motivation. 2 1/2 days of freedom left and I have to deal with the flippin’ laundry. Pfhfffffpht….

So I ended up spending most of the afternoon in the kitchen building dinner: two kinds of home-made enchiladas with home-made Mexican rice. Oh lordy lordy it was all soooo GOOD. Even though my feet are complaining loudly now, it was great to spend that much time preparing a meal. Rory helped me out quite a bit by acting as my sous chef. There’s something about preparing food that I find quite therapeutic, not to mention nurturing. I love to provide tasty meals for my family (even though one family member usually turns up her nose at whatever I set in front of her. Very picky eater) and made a promise to myself back when the girls were infants that I would do whatever I could to prepare scratch-made meals every night whenever humanly possible. I’ve been able to keep this promise for the most part and now one of my girls enjoys cooking almost as much as I do. I’ve turned her into an insufferable food snob though. My work here is done.😆
